Elves in Iceland ... do they actually exist? If you live in Iceland, chances are that you have a certain reverence for elves, fairies, trolls and "hidden folk." While not everyone in Iceland believes in elves, a majority of residents believe in the possibility that they could exist. To investigate Iceland's connection with elves and hidden folk, I head to Reykjavik's Elf School, which offers half-day courses on elf folklore and the supernatural. Classes are offered weekly and by appointment for approximately $50 per adult and $25 for children 10 and under. Magnus Skarphedinsson, the Elf School's headmaster, has spoken with more than 1,200 "witnesses" and believes, without a shadow of a doubt, that elves exist. • Real Estate for Beginners: Be careful. Look at Iceland

Do not dream. Look at the facts. The return of real estate is in the long run very lousy. After inflation you should not expect a lot of return. Because real estate has a lot of costs- such as the upkeep, the wear and tear. The most valuable part of real estate is usually not the land, but the building. And the building needs expensive upkeep. When you invest in real estate put down a nice chunk at the beginning. I recommend at least 20 or 30 percent equity. Josh Sigurdson talks with author and economic analyst John Sneisen about the dramatically overpriced real estate in Iceland as their housing bubble inflates to world record levels. Iceland has the highest house price growth in the world with 17.8%! That is insane! John breaks down how central bank interest rates and massive debt based market manipulation is bringing down the housing market and why this will be of epic proportions. Josh and John also break down what individuals need to do to protect themselves. We can talk all day about how cool it was that Iceland jailed their bankers, but they simply got rid of the machines making the problems and replaced them with others. The script continues to play out. Replacing the central planner isn't going to change the problems of central planning! Stay tuned as we continue to break this issue down! This problem is popping up all over the world as banks issue collateralized debt obligations/mortgage backed securities just like they did in 2007-2008. A storm is coming. The green roof of each house was planted with the original vegetation that was removed from its building site. Soil from the foundation excavation was used to form a berm that joins with the roof to provide a windbreak for the patio. The houses appear to be dug into the ground but that is just an illusion as viewing them from the other side shows that they actually sit at ground level. Despite the complexity of the folded roof, the houses have a more or less rectangular plan. The 103 m2 (1,109 ft2) floor plan was designed for efficiency. By having the master bedroom open directly off the living room, only a very short hallway was needed to access the other two bedrooms and the bathroom. The hallway also functions as the entry with a large closet for coats. The exteriors are clad in vertical strips of charred wood. The same pattern is repeated on the ceilings, except with clear wood. Light fixtures are interspersed among the wood strips. The homes are built on concrete slabs, which were etched with acid and then polished for the finish floor. In addition, an alternating tread stair brings you up to a loft at the peak. While the living space pyramid has glass corners, the bedroom one has a glass top. The 360 degree view makes the loft an ideal spot for taking in the Northern Lights. The pyramid cottage is about an hour and a half drive from Reykjavík. It is located in the middle of Iceland’s famed Golden Circle Route, putting the Geysir and Strokkur geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and Þingvellir National Park within easy reach. The cottage can be rented through Airbnb. https://fr.airbnb.com/rooms/1186427 Photographs courtesy of Airbnb. First of all we would like to thank Matt Gilsenan and Natali Davis for this wonderful movie. It shows Iceland from a different prospective. Choosing a Camper or Motor Home does many advantages. Many tourists where fascinated about the Motor Home because they had to get back to the hotel. Do it your way, with Camper Iceland.

Witnesses from Iceland and other countries around the world have told Skarphedinsson about their personal encounters with fairies, hidden folk, trolls, elves or other beings. Skarphedinsson has collected their stories and bound them into a workbook, which accounts for a large part of the Elf School's curriculum. Those interested in connecting the Elf School's stories with places in and around Reykjavik can arrange a tour with the headmaster. He will take students to elf landmarks and homes while teaching about their significance in Icelandic culture. About a 15-minute drive from Reykjavik, in Hafnarfjörður, is the Elf Garden. This popular elf attraction is helmed by Ragnhildur Jónsdóttir, a seer and artist who has a special relationship with the Elf Garden's residents since she was a child. Jónsdóttir says she speaks to the local elf population mostly through telepathy and meditation. She describes what her supernatural pals look like, what they wear, how their homes are decorated and how they pass the time while serving Elf Tea (an herbal blend of loose-leaf tea) to guests. Visitors can also book a walking tour of the Elf Garden in order to see the homes of several different elf species. As for going inside of their homes, humans must "leave the physical body behind" and allow the mind and spirit to do the traveling, according to Jónsdóttir. So what do you believe? Hello World’s Ashlee Vance paid a recent visit to Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavik to see the next part of the green energy story. He found a start-up called Icewind that is building a new type of funky wind turbine designed to perform well in low-wind conditions but also to slow itself down in high-winds, preventing it from catching on fire or ripping apart.
